چکیده

This study aimed to explore the effect of pure oxygen aeration on generation soluble microbial products (SMP) when activated sludge was under toxic stress condition phenol. Two parallel sequencing batch reactors, one with air and other aeration, were used investigate relationships among effluent chemical demand (COD), N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs), community, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), SMP. The results showed that caused rapid recovery low COD concentration in steady two reactors fed In contrast, these not observed sodium acetate as substrate. A strong correlation found C4-HSL, loosely bound EPS (LB-EPS), genera Zoogloea, Bacteroides, Flavobacterium also related COD, SMP, LB-EPS production Pure reduced AHL decreased relative abundance specific (Zoogloea Flavobacterium). These changes reduction SMP oxygen-aerated systems. provide insights into substance existence.

Performance Evaluation of the Extended Aeration Activated Sludge System in the Removal of Physicochemical and Microbial Parameters of Municipal Wastewater: A Case Study of Nowshahr Wastewater Treatment Plant

Introduction: Extended aeration activated sludge system has a lower sludge production than other activated sludge processes. Due to its high hydraulic retention time (HRT), the tolerance of this process is higher than the shocks caused by increased organic loading rate. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the aeration system in removing physicochemical and mi...

Soluble microbial products (SMPs) release in activated sludge systems: a review

This review discusses the characterization, production and implications of soluble microbial products (SMPs) in biological wastewater treatment. The precise definition of SMPs is open to talk about, but is currently regarded as "the pool of organic compounds that are released into solution from substrate metabolism and biomass decay"'. Some of the SMPs have been identified as humic acids, polys...

Effects of nanobubble aeration in oxygen transfer efficiency and sludge production in wastewater biological treatment

Low efficiency of conventional aeration techniques and the excessive production and disposal of sludge are great concerns in biological wastewater treatment systems. The present study aimed to evaluate the active sludge method using batch reactors under continuous operation to determine the efficiency of aeration and sludge production through microbubble and nanobubble aeration. The results ind...
